Zangle - Category Weights Shown in Progress Report

The default Progress Reports do not show the Category Weights. These weighted grades, whether grades are calculated by Points or Percents, show valuable information as to where the students' strengths and weaknesses are. A few simple changes will produce the additional grades.

Create Progress Reports

When creating the Progress Report (Zangle Reports / Gradebook / Student Progress Report) there are two IMPORTANT changes to consider. (I scrolled down for this shot - it is not complete)

1) Individual Total Points. If you calculate the Overall Grade by Total Points, keep this included (the default checkmark). If you use weighted categories, remove the checkmark and do NOT show these points. They are not how the grade is calculated and will confuse the observer.

2) Change to Assignment Category (Grouped). The category grades will not show without this.

Sample Progress Report

This is a sample progress report, showing the four category averages, as well as the weighting and the overall average.

Note the Total Points earned and Possible Points (red oval). This is mentioned in the previous step. It should be included if grading by total points, it should be excluded if using weighted averages.

This report shows the weight of each category for the overall grade. If using Total Points, these weights will not show.
