How to post News, Links, and Files in your Class News section

As we start the second year of Zangle and students also gain access, many teachers are wishing to make Zangle a 'one-stop' location for all of the information for their classes. In order to do this, it must be possible to post additional information. The Class News section presents a place to do this.

Four categories of information:

  1. Short news blurbs
  2. Long items (worksheets, assignment sheets, class outlines, project descriptions, etc.)
  3. Links to other sites
  4. Specific Assignments

Comments on each:

  1. Short news blurbs - just what it is designed for.
  2. Long items - while it is possible to put lengthy items in the News sections, it leads to an awkward page for parents and students to scroll through. I think it is better to post these items as separate documents with a link to them. Do not be daunted - this is quite convenient once you have it set up. But it warrants a separate page of instructions.
  3. Links to other sites - this allows the teacher to direct parents and students to other websites of interest, whether their own website, or other sites on the greater web.
  4. Specific Assignments - while the teacher can post specific assignments, I would recommend putting these as 'regular' assignments in Zangle. If you date them in the future, they won't be counted against the student, plus I would check the 'Not Graded' box. These assignments will then show up directly in the Assignment list along with older assignments.

Instructions for each:

  1. Short news blurbs - just what it is designed for. Create a simple News item
Create a News item with link to another site
  4. Specific Assignments - two pages that I made earlier for other reasons more or less apply to this:
