Print Progress Reports to the Konica Copier

If you decide to print a large number of progress reports, it works well to print them to the Konica copiers.
a) they print quickly
b) they can print two-sided, if you have 2-page progress reports
c) it saves money on toner

Go to a copier room

All of our copiers are supposed to be set up for this. The 'best' deal is from the new Dells in rooms F103 and G203.

Open your browser and go to these instructions. They can stay open and you can click back and forth as you do these steps. You don't need to print these :)

Log into the Dell computer and set the Konica copier as your default printer

Log into the Dell. (Mac users, press Ctrl-Alt-Del, all at the same time, then enter your userid and password)
a) From the Start menu, select Printers and Faxes
b) Right click on the Konica copier and select Set as Default Printer

You should notice the little black checkmark next to the Konica copier now.
Close the Printers and Faxes window.

Launch Zangle and create your progress reports / start the print process

Don't forget to change the Order Assignments By: to Assignment Category (Grouped) if you wish to have category grades showing.
You should see something that looks like Adobe Acrobat opened within the Internet Explorer.
(1) Look at the number of pages
(2) Scroll down to see if you have two pages per student or just one (or three)
(3) Click the Printer icon

The Konica copier should show in the dialog box.

To print double-sided, look at the next step. Otherwise, you can click 'OK' and in a few seconds, they should start coming out of the copier.

I. To print double-sided

Click on the Properties button (shown in previous step)
Duplex is a fancy computer word for 'two-sided' (among other things...)
Select Duplex, Flip on long edge. *** Caution! the computer just prints everything front and back, it doesn't make any decisions about whose progress report is whose! Look at your document - it will put even pages on the back of odd pages. If that works for you, continue!
Click OK to close the dialog box and then click OK to print!

II. To print two pages on one (1/2 size)

Another method for two-page progress reports is to shrink the size to fit two pages on one. It is still legible and looks sharp!
Similarly to the previous step, select the Konica copier and click the Properties button on the right
Select the Options tab
Change to 2 Pages per sheet
Leave the Scaling at 100%
Click OK and print.

Note: as with the previous method, the copier is not 'smart' - it just prints the odd pages on the left and the even pages on the right. If you have some students with one page and other students with two pages, it might get out of sequence.
