Zangle - Weighted Tasks

Some teachers wish to convert a convenient number of points for an assignment to the number of points that it is worth. (eg. there are 56 questions, but you want it to count for 5 points total)

Set up the Task Weight when entering the assignment

When entering the assignment, you must enter the Task Weight so that the product of the Pts Poss and the Task Wt is the number of points that you want.
To do this, take the Number of Points Wanted and divide by the Number of Points Possible.

Example: 56 questions on a 5 point assignment. 5 / 56 is 0.089.

I'll skip the step about using a spreadsheet

The mathematics is done correctly

This example was done with a 56 point assignment counting for 5 points and a 17 point assignment counting for 10 points. (The weights were set up in the previous step)

This means 15 points possible in the grade calculation. Unfortunately, Zangle only uses the decimal weight to the nearest thousandth place. Mathematically, this is fine, but it leaves untidy decimals floating around. (13.537/14.98). Just ignore them and go with the flow. (although if you use more than 5 points for your base value, your precision will go up.) [When I taught, I based all of my assignments out of 100 points, partly so I wouldn't have to deal with this sort of thing.]

I have not found where Zangle shows the converted scores, but the grades are correct.
