GENERAL MUSIC (GRADES K-6)

Class Introduction:

General music class meets twice per week for 30 minutes each in grades K-5. Grade 6 meets once per week for 30 minutes. Schedules are available on
iCal through our school website. In addition to myself, we have another part-time music teacher here on Thursdays and Fridays, Mrs. Susan Burch.

To help your child excel in music, encourage them to sing at home, sing with them, dance with them, play instruments in front of them or with them, listen to recordings together, attend concerts together. The important thing is to show them that music can be fun. Your excitement is contagious!

Detailed course descriptions are given out at open house, and are available here as a PDF by clicking the Homework link in the box on your right.

I work to build children's confidence in themselves as active music participants. In general music classes we sing, chant, dance, and play instruments in a
variety of musical styles. I choose to teach using the Orff process, and I enjoy integrating music with literature and with other subjects.
My goal is that children are able to use their multiple intelligences to joyfully experience the rich variety of activities music has to offer. Parents are welcome to
observe my classes and participate with their children. If you feel inspired to volunteer, please feel free to call or email me at any time.
