Class Introduction:
Marine ScienceMarine Science: Oceanography (FALL Semester)
Oceanography emphasizes historical oceanography, origins, chemical, physical, and geological aspects of the marine environment, ecology of various sea zones and marine communities.
Marine Science: *Marine Biology (SPRING Semester)
Marine Biology explores the diversity of marine organisms, characteristics of major marine phyla/divisions, adaptations, the ecological processes of major marine ecosystems, and the interrelationship between man and the ocean.
Laboratory investigations of selected topics in the content, which also include the use of scientific method, measurement, laboratory apparatus, dissection and safety procedures, are an integral part of this course.
(Most students take both semesters, but each can be taken separately.) (Students usually take this course in 11th or 12th grade.)
