Class Introduction:

8th GRADE CURRICULUM:
FOOD TECHNOLOGY AND NUTRITION: The student will:
Correctly and safely use kitchen tools and equipment.
Demonstrate correct food handling.
Successfully prepare food in the food labs. (8-10)
Apply principles of good nutrition in menu planning and activities.
Do food/culture research, including food prep on a state or country.
TEXTILES CREATIONS: The student will:
Safely and correctly use the sewing machine and small sewing tools.
Demonstrate basic techniques of machine/hand sewing. (Complete 2-3 projects)
CAREERS/ PERSONAL FINANCE: The student will:
Select and complete activities related to exploration of specific careers, personal assessment, resume writing and computer research.
Complete finance packet to simulate them living on their own for 1 month.
WARDROBE/LAUNDRY CARE UNIT
IF TIME PERMITS: Such topics as care giving, family unit, personal and living environments will also be covered.
