GERMAN

Class Introduction:

German is geared towards middle school students. Middle school students can take two years of German (one year of 7th grade and one year of 8th grade) and this will give them the chance to earn high school credit. High school students are also welcome to take German but they will not be able to earn credit for their participation in the class. Here are some concepts that we will be covering during each year of German.

During the first year, German is a basic, introductory course to the language and culture of Germany. We will be learning basic conversation skills, basic grammar skills, what life is like in Germany, and important historical events of Germany. Most work will be done in class but homework may be assigned occasionally.

During the second year (a continuation of the first year), we will be reviewing basic conversational skills and grammar skills. We will also be learning new skills including but not limited to possessive adjectives, descriptive adjectives, modals, and adverbs. German culture and history will be touched upon as well. Most work will be done in class but homework may be assigned occasionally.
