PHYSICAL EDUCATION GRADE(S) 7-8
Class Introduction: MEARS PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Dear Parent/Guardian(s)
Welcome from the physical education department at Mears Middle School. We are working daily to encourage fitness in our youth. Our daily program consists of
a stretching and calisthenic warm up period followed by a daily run/jog. We devote nearly one third of our activity period to personal fitness. The rest of the period
is spent on a short introductory unit of either an individual or team sport.
How can you as a parent help? The most recent studies of youth fitness show a marked decrease in the level of fitness among teenagers, previously the most fit
of all age groups. Our staff is very concerned about this, but we need your help to ensure that your child has the proper clothing and is ready to participate every
day. Please continue to encourage physical fitness as much as possible. Thank you for all that you can do to help develop a fitness awareness in your student.
The MEARS school store has a full supply of inexpensive PE clothing available with new colors/logos.
