Welcome to the 2016-2017 School Year! I am thrilled to be teaching at Gruening Middle School and can't wait to get to know your children.
My name is Tiffany Mukaabya and I will be teaching study
skills, Math, and I am the Special Education Department Chair for Gruening.
Math will need a composition notebook to use is class daily. This will stay in the classroom for note taking. Also, a notebook, pencil, two-pocket folder, and a calculator.
Math grades are weighted according to the following breakdown: 40% Tests/Quizzes 20% Homework 20% Classwork 10% VMATHLIVE 10% Participation
My study skills class will be used to teach new study skills and
strategies to help students become more effective learners. In addition, much time will be given to help students
understand and complete homework from other classes.
Students will be required to bring the following items to class each day:
*A medium-to-large sized 3-ring binder notebook (small rings do not hold enough material) with subject
dividers for each of their classes
*Daily Planner/Assignment calendar (provided by teachers)
*Paper, pencil, pen, and calculator
*Work from core classes
In addition, students will need to bring materials necessary to complete any assignments for elective
classes. Notebooks will be randomly checked for completeness and organization. Parents-- you can
greatly increase your child's chances of success by checking their daily planners to be aware of what
their assignments are and the status of these assignments. In addition, encourage them to study in a quiet
and well-lighted location, to take notes, to set a daily study schedule and to take brief breaks when
If there is anything specific you wish for us to work on with your child, please let me know and we will be
