Overdrive Media

Aren’t we the lucky ones? Why, yes! We are!! The Anchorage School District has a one year subscription to Overdrive Media. “What’s that?” you say! If you are familiar with Listen Alaska through the public library , it is almost the same. The staff and students of the ASD have the ability to borrow e-books and audio books from the Anchorage School District Digital Library using the Overdrive Media website or app. The ASD Digital Library currently has more than 400 titles ranging from books for early readers to books for the high school level. More titles will be added throughout this next school year. Included are books on drawing and origami; the Ivy and Bean and Beautiful Darkness book series; graphic novels for elementary; fiction; non-fiction and more. There is also a selection of the 2015 “Battle of the Books” titles. Books can be read, listened to or downloaded onto your computer, Android, ipad, Kindle, Nook, Smartypants and many other devices. All you need is your library card number and an internet connection. Users can have 2 books checked out at a time, 3 books on hold and lots of books on a wish list!

If you are an upper grade student you learned about Overdrive Media during library class and have received a bookmark with your library card number and PIN. You will need these to use this really neat resource. If you forgot how to get started you can click on the link below and watch the “Teacher Tube” videos prepared by our library curriculum coordinator, Ann Morgester. If you need specific instructions on how to use Overdrive Media with a specific device, stop by the library and talk to Mrs. Rand or Ms. Masterson and start enjoying some great books!!!
