The addition of personal laptops to the SAHS network involves a number of factors that potentially could cause problems with our network. eg. virus infection, additional traffic to recreational activities (games), additional traffic over a limited wireless network, wear-and-tear on ethernet cables and connections through careless attachment. Students have access to numerous computers that are connected to their schoolwide file storage and the internet available in the library and other locations before and after school, and at lunch.
Because of this, personal laptops are not to be connected to the SAHS network. They may be used as stand-alone computers for non-network/internet uses before school, at lunch, and after school. With the teacher's permission, they may be used in the same way during class. This policy is similar to most schools in the Anchorage School District.
