Mitsubishi Projectors
We have many Mitsubishi XL8U projectors at SAHS. A number of comments: (some of these are specific to the XL8U, others probably apply to other projectors.)
- The bulbs are very expensive - treat them carefully.
- As the projectors age, things happen and the flashing lights mean something. If a projector is not working, check the instructions to see what they mean. I have posted the code sheet from the instruction manual.
- The projectors have a clock in them - if you don't reset the clock when you change a bulb, it will eventually come to the point where it tells you to replace the bulb regardless. You can end up with a non-functioning projector because you haven't reset the clock.
- I have found that it is handy to save a few old, dim bulbs to use for testing projectors.
- If you don't put the cover back on the bulb, it won't start up. (Suppose you are testing bulbs - put the cover on!)
Best Practices:
- Reset the clock when you change a bulb. (Hold down the left and right arrow buttons as you push and hold the round power button for 3 seconds)
- Make sure the cover is put back on
- If you have flashing lights, read the instructions.
