Checklist for when a student can't log on

Things to consider if a student can't log on:

1. The default id is lastname.firstname
2. The default password is the student's id number
3. Long names are truncated at 18 characters (including the period)
4. Common names might have the digit 2 or 3 appended to the end of the id
5. Some students changed their passwords during the previous year. If they have done so, it is still their password.
6. Try a different computer. If it works on a 2nd computer, let the tech coordinator know so that the first computer can be repaired.
7. Accounts become active on the day after registration. They will not be able to log in on the same day they registered.

Send the student to the tech coordinator. (The librarian also has a list of 'non-standard' student ids)
