To think about before messing with the power on the Konica Copier

There are a couple of things that anyone who wants to do some of the minor re-settings of the copier should pay close attention to!

1) Most of the time, you do NOT need to power off the copier. In the good-old-days, this was a common, generic, cure-all. It should not be used as such.

2) If you power off the copier by just clicking the black switch in the back off and then back on, this locks up the copier. Don’t do it that way.

3) If you do need to power off the copier (there are times that it tells you to), follow these steps.

  1. press the round, beige button on the control panel, just to the left of the display screen. Wait for the display screen to go dark. (this powers off the electronics (the 'fancy'stuff) of the copier)
  2. Click the black switch in the back (waist level, back-left) to off. You will hear the power go off. This powers off the 'heavy-duty' stuff. [Everything]
  3. Wait 15 seconds for good karma.
  4. Click the black switch in the back to on. Wait for the copier to power up. [This supplies power to the main machinery]
  5. Press the round, beige button on the control panel to turn the screen back on. [This powers up the electronics - the 'thinking' parts]
  6. Everything will now hopefully work.

If you don’t want to deal with this, we understand. Please contact someone else to go through this. I do not want to become ‘the copier guy’, but I am starting to pick up some of this from Sam and will be happy to help out as much as I can.

For those of you who remember better when you know why you do things: You turn off the beige button first because it turns off the DC power to the electronics. Then the black switch turns off the AC power to the whole machine.
