To Make a Large Poster

SAHS has an HP DesignJet 500 printer available (in the F103 workroom) that will print color files from a roll of paper, 24 inches wide.

Staff and students are allowed to print items to it, but because of the possibility of rather 'large' mistakes, access to it is password controlled. If you would like to print something, see Pete or Jan. The current cost is $1 per linear foot.

The trick is to produce something that is the proper size. I currently use two methods.

Quick and Dirty: Produce your file and then convert it to a pdf file. The Dell computer in the back corner of the library does this now. We will try to fix the Adobe installation on the computer in F103 shortly so that it does also. Then, when we print the file to the HP, we can scale the file to make it larger.

Best Practices: Produce the original file in Microsoft Publisher in the proper size that you want printed. This is a Windows only program, but is relatively easy to use.
