Amber Myers - Social Studies

I was born and raised in South Dakota.  I joined the South Dakota Army National Guard in 1995.  I obtained a teaching certificate from Black Hills State University in 2001 and moved to Alaska.

My first teaching position was at Mears Middle School where I taught algebra and 8th-grade math as well as 8th-grade social studies.  I earned my masters degree in Educational Leadership from UAA in 2005. I was deployed to Afghanistan in 2006 with the Alaska Army National Guard’s 297th support battalion.

Upon returning, I took a social studies position at Central Middle School of Science and taught there for 11 years. I have been at Romig since 2018 and love teaching here!

My family and I love being active outdoors and in our community.  We enjoy traveling and spending time with friends and family.

7th-grade geography is an exciting subject to teach as I get to travel around the globe with students looking into a variety of cultures, looking at problems and talking about solutions!
