PRE-AP/HONORS ENGLISH II

Class Introduction:

Pre-AP/Honors English II is a comprehensive literature and composition course that will examine six different geographic areas of our world, Ancient Greece & Rome, Asia, the Middle East (Southwest Asia), Africa/Oceania, Latin America, and Europe) through texts that are both written by native and non-native authors. This will allow us to explore both perceptions of those within and without diverse cultures. As this is a preparatory course for Advanced Placement Language & Composition, as well as Advanced Placement Literature and Composition, students should enter the course with a strong foundation in reading comprehension, writing, and critical thinking. While regular English II classes will be exploring some of the same literature and concepts, higher level thinking and writing skills are emphasized. We also will move through material at a faster pace than other classes, so a strong interest and work ethic is expected. As your teacher, I view myself as someone who is here to guide and support you; I applaud those of you who take on the challenge of rigorous coursework and will do whatever I can to help you achieve your goals, academic and otherwise. My door is always open to you for extra help.
