SPANISH

Class Introduction:

Spanish Level I begins in 7th grade as 1A and concludes in 8th grade as 1B. During these two years, students begin to learn how to communicate orally and in written form. They learn to understand and produce simple expressions and are introduced to the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries. Emphasis is placed on vocabulary development and simple grammar. Throughout the course, students apply their emerging language skills to real-life communication. By the end of the course, students should be able to describe people, objects and places; make simple explanations, identify their preferences and state their likes and dislikes. They should also be able to move from word and phrase level Spanish to communicating in complete sentences. Finally, by the end of the course, students should be able to state their opinions or preferences with simple supporting statements.
