Class Introduction:

Goals:
• Food Technology & Nutrition
o Correctly and safely use the kitchen tools and equipment.
o Demonstrate correct food handling.
o Successfully prepare the food recipes in the lab.
o Apply principles of good nutrition in menu planning activities.
• Textile Creations
o Safely and correctly use the sewing machine and small sewing tools.
o Demonstrate basic techniques of sewing.
o Complete a machine and hand sewn project.
• Careers/Personal Finance
o Complete activities related to career exploration
• Personal appearance
• Conduct on the job
• Creating resumes
• Learning job interviewing skills
o Balancing checkbooks, and money management
• Care Giving
o The students will learn the American Red Cross Babysitter’s training and will have the opportunity to become a certified babysitter in class.
• Other Projects
o There may be other projects creating throughout the semester. If projects change from the assigned above there will be a note sent home to the parents/guardians.
