One of the most specialized parts of many birds is their beak.  You may not have ever thought of it before, but every bird from an eagle to a hummingbird has a preferred food, and most have beaks that allow them to get their food effectively.  Look at the following pictures and on a separate piece of paper write the name of the bird, describe the basic shape of the beak, and write a 1-sentence hypothesis that explains why the beak has the shape that it does.  We’ll discuss the answers as a class after completing the activity.
