SAHS 4 Year Plan - Background Links

At the moment, this is just a place to put links to information that might want to be considered further.

Copied from my main 4-year plan page: The Educational Testing Service has defined ICT literacy proficiency as the ability to use digital technology, communication tools and networks appropriately to solve information problems in order to function in an information society. This includes the ability to use technology as a tool to research, organize, evaluate and communicate information, and the possession of a fundamental understanding of the ethical/legal issues surrounding the access and use of information. Standards are being written on a number of levels to address this. The State of Alaska has formal sections in their Content and Performance Standards for Students. The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) has recently developed the National Educational Technology Standards . A number of years ago, ASD published a list of expectations. My understanding is that the district plans to revisit these. A practice document is posted for the sake of discussion.

A Texas school district site with pages for staff development/computer competencies.  Here is the pre-assessment link:  http://www.newbraunfels.txed.net/TechDept/CyberConn/PhaseIIIdocs/PreAssess.doc
Here is the main page – kind of cool.

Came across this from an ADE mailing list. Interesting approach to the skills portion!
