Measures of Central Tendency and Measures of Dispersion

The Algebra II textbook has a number of sections scattered throughout the book that look at measures of central tendency (means, medians, and modes) and a brief introduction to measures of dispersion (range, variance, standard deviation). This lesson uses spreadsheets to handle the calculations, allowing students to concentrate more on the mathematical significance of these measures.

This is a math lesson, not a computer lesson, but it incorporates practice in the use of spreadsheets. The end result is a completed worksheet that should help to bring the students to a better understanding of these concepts.
