Scan to your e-mail from the Konica Copier
(Bizhub 423 & 751)
It is possible to scan anything that you can put in the copier to files that are sent to your e-mail. The format can be either pdf (Adobe Acrobat) or tiff (picture file). The tiff files can be run through OCR (Optical Character Recognition software) to convert to word processing files. The accuracy of this conversion is not guaranteed. :)
I believe that most all of the new copiers have been set up for this when they were installed. If not, ask!
To save an e-mail address in the copier: (needs to be done once)
- Press the button on the right side of the main copier panel: Utility/Counter (and check out how many copies have been made!)
- Select 1) Onetouch/User Box Registration
- Select 1) Create One-touch Destination
- Select 1) Address Book (public)
- Select 1) E-Mail
- Select New
- Select Name. Enter your name. SAHS convention is to start with your last name, add your first name if you wish.
- Select e-mail address . Enter your e-mail address. Note that you need to press Shift to get the _ key.
- Select OK / Close / Close / Close ...
To actually scan:
- Press the button at the bottom of the copier panel to select Fax/Scan
- select the Letter group for your name
- Select your name
- If you wish tiff instead of pdf, change the Scanner Settings
- Put your paper in the copier and press Start
- Press the Copy button to return the copier to the default mode for the next user.
To scan in Color:
Evidently, only the Bizhub 423, but not the 751 scans in color.
- Scan in the normal way, but under Scanner Settings, select Color / Full Color
- Select either Auto Color or Full Color. Auto is automatic, Full allows you to pick the resolution when you go back to the Scanner Settings
- Note that you can choose jpg instead of pdf or tiff under File Type
To change your scanned document to a word processor document, check out OCR.
