Class Introduction:

Welcome to English 3! Here, the goal is to investigate the history of the United States through written works of some of our country�s most celebrated authors. From the early beginnings of our nation to today, literature has served as both a milestone and mirror for the ever-changing ideas, beliefs, and behaviors of America and her people. Students will be exploring the voices of many authors, whose distinct experiences showcase the diversity upon which this country formed its identity.

The major components of the English program are reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Throughout the course of this year, we will explore and refine each of the skills. Success in this class will require a strong work ethic, commitment, organizational and time management skills, and the ability to analyze complex texts.
