Class Introduction:

Welcome to English 2, World Literature! Here, the goal is to explore texts from diverse sources in order to strengthen our cultural competency and global literacy. Through an in-depth analysis of a broad range of readings, we will explore purpose and interpret societal issues from around the world. Students will then be able to draw parallels among themes and characters, as well as make connections between the ideas in the global texts and issues in their own communities.

The major components of the English program are reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Throughout the course of this year, we will explore and refine each of the skills. Success in this class will require a strong work ethic, commitment, organizational and time management skills, and the ability to analyze complex texts.
