Welcome to Music at Homestead Elementary!

My name is Hannah Johnston and I am the K-6 General Music teacher at Homestead Elementary. I received a Bachelors of Music in K-12 Music Education and a Bachelors of Music in Trumpet Performance in the
spring of 2009, from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. I also received a Master of Arts in Music: Trumpet Performance in the spring of 2011. I am a 2003 graduate of Chugiak High School. My happiest of elementary years were spent at Homestead Elementary and I am absolutely delighted to have returned to a community that inspired me to pursue music. This year marks my 7th year as a classroom music educator in the ASD. I cannot wait to see what the year has in store.

Although not born in Alaska, I have lived here nearly my entire life. I love exploring our beautiful state, making music with colleagues and friends and spending time with my husband and children.

Music at Homestead will be an environment for community, creativity, exploration, movement, fun, and let's not forget, MUSIC MAKING! General music at Homestead will be an environment that inspires and promotes, not just
an appreciation, but also a genuine love for the universal language that is music.
