GERMAN I: PERIODS 1 & 4

Class Introduction:

This one year course is designed to acquaint students w/ the basic skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking German within a limited scope. The focus is communication in German, incorporating understanding of Germanic cultures, connecting w/ other disciplines, comparing native language to German and participating in multicultural communities. The course provides practice in correct use of basic vocabulary, grammar and language structure to enable students to function effectively within realistic settings.

Topics to be covered: Introduction to the German Speaking World, Alphabet, numbers, basic vocabulary for interests and hobbies, sports, home life, foods, family, school life, clothing, shopping, making plans, chores, weather, etc.

Materials Needed:Journal/ Notebook, pens, pencils, paper. We will be using the book " Komm Mit" level I and supplemental materials. If there are special projects, students will be notified of what they need.
